Factions and alliances in Nightfall?
So, last night my girlfriend and I were discussing Nightfall and all of the news that broke yesterday regarding it, and we came across a shocking revelation (if that's the word for it, which it probably isn't)... will the Faction battles be isolated specifically to Cantha or will the raging wars between the Kurzicks and Luxons continue into the Elonian world in Nightfall?
What do you guys think?

Definately stuck to Cantha. We had a brief outbreak in tyria but i doubt something Mass scale will happen in Elona.

hard to say now,im hoping they will continue, wouldnt be cool if they went on to new expansions every time leaving off the other game without expanding.hopefully chap 4 will be a 20+ expansion and expand lvl cap for all classes

If the Nightfall game mechanics and PvE is gonna be a "copy and paste" from Factions then i can be sure i wont be wasting my money.

Why would you want a higher lvl cap? That just means more miserably boring grinding to get to *new lvl cap*. If you want a high lvl cap, then go play another game.
Also, faction and alliance battles were for cantha and I doubt that they will be in any other chapter (even though I seriously hope they will be in other chapters).

Absolutely not. Faction battles are specific to Cantha. Unfortunately, I don't have any proof. Just a memory of an interview someone from Anet did with an online game mag, talking about different game mechanics for different chapters. He specifically said that each chapter would have something different in them. So...there will be something new for Nightfall.

sergeant blades im sry for that guy gamecube he was prob one of the noobs that played a sin and still has it and tries to tank with it...doesnt know what skill is to get to a higher lvl
i would also like to see a higher lvl cap b/c it would be funner for me to go out and get something outta these quests Anet gives us....
and i agree with most of the ppl alliance battles will stay in cantha but im woundering if they do continue and Anet goes with this light side dark side stuff which side kurzick or luxons would be which.....im prob not making sense here so....
i hope they do even tho i think they wont

sorry, but dont flame people because you dont agree with them, and raising the level cap would possibly throw the whole game out of whack, seriously it is fine the way it is, dont fix something that isn't broke.

I don't see how Nightfall, or in fact, any later expansion could have anything such as AvA and alliances.
How would such alliance be made? 'In Chapter 2 we are with the Luxons, in Chapter 3 we are with the Cookiecutters, in Chapter 4 we are with the Boogiemen, in Chapter 5 we are with the 2nd generation Luxons', so in the end to join an alliance, you'd have to match for 4 different games who you want to ally with.

i hope you are right cause argh FAction's just make's me angry didn't like the idea that you had too chose an side that kinda reduces the so called ''epic'' felling, i hope Nightfall is more like prophecis

I seriously doubt that the lvl cap will be increased - ever. It makes no sense. It would distort ALL game mechanics, because so much stuff is tied to the level cap (like HP). Hmmm come to think of it, increasing the level cap to 25 would probably nerf ALL spike builds *grin*. BAD IDEA hehehehe

If there will not be any more alliance battles in following chapters then surely the only way to get your friend of luxon's and kurzick titles maxed out will be to keep playing chapter 2.
For someone who wants to play and experience all the chapters, yet still wants to get titles maxed this will surely take time out of playing chapter 3 and so on in order to get chapter 2 specific titles sorted.
I just dont see that as a very good idea of anets.

I also listened to the interview (believe it was Jeff) that was done sometime just before GW:F release. There were questions asked regarding this very topic. His answer at that time was that chapter 3 will have different "game mechanics" from Factions, just as Factions did from Prophesies. After finishing the storyline of Factions I'm not sure it even would make sense to carry over the war. From what I recall he mentioned something about different kinds of battles (such as AB) - but you know how vague they are to keep everyone anxious. I got the feeling from the interview that Luxons, Kurzicks and faction for them only has an impact on us while traveling in Cantha.

If Guild Wars followed a typical true expansion system, I would expect there to be a continuation of features from previous titles, aka, more factions, more alliance battles. But as the game is standalone expansion style, I assume factions will stick with their namesake expansion.
Also, in terms of level cap rising, I heavily doubt it unless Anet are the most brilliant gamedesign ever. A rise in Nightfall would ONLY be able to apply to Nightfall, and even then, only Nightfall PvE (it could go across the world, but that wouldnt make much balance sense either, it will give ne one with Nightfall lvl 30 chars (per se) easy ins in groups to blow through the campaigns, not that fair) could have the update. You could not apply it to battle isles (as far as I can think), without giving the cap rise to ALL chapters, hence it being an update, rather than specific to nightfall. That is why I doubt this. We shall see.
In terms of what this thread IS about, i doubt well see more factions etc. But ill prolly still play Factions for it . Its fun, and thats what the game is about .

It's been stated over and over and over again that they will not raise the level cap beyond 20, EVER.
I also can't see that any new chapters will be "cookie-cutters" of previous ones. There's a pretty imaginative bunch of people working at A-net. It's going to be interesting to see what chapter 3's "gimmick" is.

It makes sense that some new kind of faction will come out during Nightfall. Maybe there will be a way for us to contribute faction towards one of the other gods (Dwayna, Lyssa, Melandru, Grenth), but towards what these factions will be redeemed is anyone's guess. Just speculation at this point.

I've always felt that it doesn't really matter what the level cap is. If they set it at 50, people would want it 75 - at 75, people would want it at 100. If the cap was raised to 30 for a chapter all the creatures would be increased as well. It's all relative. I have a feeling that if a slight increase of 10 or 20 levels was implemented, many of our current characters would be maxed immediately anyway. Continuing the formula of leveling up to 20, level 30 is just over 300,000 experience.
Here's a goofy idea... what if there was a place we could go to that would display what level we would be - call it "Hero's Island" or something. It would be just like any other outpost, but people could stand around and brag and call others noobs, newbs and other derogatory names. Okay, maybe it's not such a great idea.

Yeah that's alot like what asheron's call did, the level cap was 126 -- then 184 -- then 212 -- then 256 -- then 313. The whole time you could have always gotten to lvl 313, it just wouldnt have shown, it would be cool to have "total exp" title or something like that
